Brief Description

Hemplanet is focused on transitioning the international township of Auroville into a hemp-based economy. Hemplanet works with various production units in Auroville to produce food, cosmetic, textile, construction and paper products using hemp. The goal is to create a sustainable and environmentally friendly model that benefits farmers, workers, consumers, and the environment.

Purpose

Hemplanet’s purpose is to develop a sustainable economy that addresses the growing threat of climate change and the scarcity of resources, by harnessing the potential of hemp. Hemplanet aims to improve human and planetary health, create employment opportunities, and promote responsible consumption and production.

People – Social Impact

Hemplanet collaborates with Auroville units to produce sustainable local products and improve economic growth by providing employment opportunities to the rural population. Hemplanet initiatives are aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, particularly towards No Poverty, Good Health & Wellbeing, Gender Equality, Decent Work & Economic Growth, and Responsible Consumption & Production.
