Step into the vibrant world of creativity tinged with the essence of cannabis as we embark on our first interview with the visionary artist of the week, Stoner Babaji. Join us as we delve into his unique journey, exploring the intersection of art, inspiration, and the boundless depths of imagination.

In order to get into the mind of an artist, one must appreciate the complexities of their creative process, immerse oneself in their surroundings, and empathize with their emotions. Our interview questions helped us understand more about our artist, and so will you!

What got you into cannabis art? (other than cannabis, obviously)

In 2019, I joined Instagram, wandered around some cannabis community pages, and found out that I can also make memes. But I’m an artist, so I started creating stoner characters and trippy artwork just to play around, and it turned out to be so good.

What would you refer to your art style as?

To be honest, I don’t have anything specific in mind, ’cause I can create 2D and 3D-based visual artwork using Procreate, Illustrator, and Photoshop. I think I can call it “Cannastration”.

What’s the weirdest place you’ve found inspiration for your artwork?

It’s memes.

Just chilling

Do you have any sort of tradition before you start working on a new piece? What is the method to your madness?

No tradition; it’s just an idea to create something, and when it’s made, it’s totally not what I was trying to do but turned out to be more awesome.

If you could share a joint with anyone in history, be it a celebrity, historical figure, politician, or even a friend, who would it be and why?

I always wanted to share a joint with Cheech and Chong. Reason, ’cause they are the legends.

If you could collaborate with any artist, dead or alive, who would it be, and what kind of project would you create together?

I would love to create artwork with Beeple Crap and Alex Grey. Both artists have extraordinary vision for creating dope artwork. Together, we can create an alternate dimension of visual arts.
